Microsoft announced a new name for Live Search Maps:

Quote:

Live Search Maps was our consumer maps offering. This is the web site you go to for maps, aerial photos, directions, searching for points of interest and creating collections of your own personal data to store in the cloud. Live Search Maps is now called Bing Maps.

OMFG! Is this like the fifth change? Bing!? You have to be kidding. Is it April 1st? I looked to see if this was coming from The Onion but it looks to be real.

The new name makes me think of "Chandler Bing". Not exactly inspirational for good decisions.

Sucks...thought it was malware. The header looks cheesy.

Not working for me. When I submit a BEV map URL (corrected with Lat & Lon) I get this:

"Unable To Proceed!

Error with the url: http://http://www.bing.com/maps/default....1&encType=1

The URL must have the latitude and longitude information encoded in it."

You'll notice that the URL does infact have lat and lon in it.
You may also notice that the URL has two http:// in it. I tried removing the http:// from the URL whan I submitted but that did no good.

I'm stumped.

I would guess the code behind the scenes rejects it because it does not recognize the "bing.com" in the URL. I have been having the exact same problems this morning. I'm just going to submit Google Maps and then go back and edit them when the issue is resolved.

I didn't get two http:// however by replacing www.bing.com/maps/ with www.maps.live.com/ I was able to submit http://virtualglobetrotting.com/map/71218/

VG could not interpret the state (NY) from the URL. Thought it was out-of-country.

I have been doing what mlc1us stated above, and it works great.

I've seen a Bing TV ad a few times in the last few days.

Microsoft is really pushing this new brand name. Looks like it'll be here for awhile.
