1982 Chevrolet Camaro Indy 500 Pace Car Replica

1982 Chevrolet Camaro Indy 500 Pace Car Replica (StreetView)
1982 was the first year of the so-called "Mullet-mobile" generation of the F-Body muscle car twins, the Chevrolet Camaro and the Pontiac Firebird, sporting new aerodynamic bodywork. Coming standard with a V8, a V6 and the infamous "Iron Duke" I4 engine built by Pontiac were also available, with the latter considered by many to be one of the worst cars of all time. A true "Malaise Era" car produced in the wake of stringent fuel economy regulations following the 1973 embargo, Camaros equipped with the Iron Duke is usually seen as an example of a sheep in wolf's clothing, producing only a meager 90 horsepower in which the slow car takes around 20 seconds to reach 60 mph, yet can still pack a reasonable amount of torque at 132 lb-ft. While being relatively rare at 6,360 units built to commemorate the Indianapolis 500 that is publicized with these replicas, complete with a unique blue on grey color scheme, nothing else is different than the other Camaros at the time.
