The Adams Memorial was commissioned by writer, Henry Adams after his wife Marian Hooper Adams committed suicide in 1885. The Irish sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens completed the monument in 1891. The monument is located at the Rock Creek Cemetery in Washington.
Several copies were made. This copy sits in the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
