Horse Soldier Statue - America's Response Monument

New York, New York (NY), US
The bronze statue was sculpted by Douwe Blumberg in 2011. The statue commemorates the U.S. Special Forces who entered Afghanistan to fight the Taliban soon after 9/11. The 12 men sent were given horses by the locals as transportation in the difficult mountain terrain. They fought tanks, and infantry while on horseback, marking the first U.S. fight on horseback since 1942.
