The Battle of Viru Harbor was one of the battles of World War II between the Americans and the Japanese between June 30 and July 1, 1943, during the Solomon Islands campaign in the Pacific. With the support of air raids, the Marines surrounded the surrounding attack on Japanese defenders around the port and forced them to withdraw. The port was subsequently used by US forces to support further operations.
