This downtown San Antonio building was designed by architect J. Riely Gordon, and borders Main Plaza. The style is Romanesque Revival, with the main material used being red sandstone. Ground was broken for the structure on 8/4/1891, and the cornerstone was laid 12/17/1892. After several delays, construction was fully completed in 1896. The building was designated a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 1976 added to the NRHP in 1977.
