On Friday 19th August 2022, Pat K7GUD a radio amateur from Victor, ID reached the summit of Big Sandy Mountain and became the first to activate this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.

They made 21 contacts in total working on the 20 and 17 metre HF amateur radio bands.
