Bohus Fortress

Bohus Fortress

Construction of Bohus Fortress started in 1308 as a main Norwegian defense against Sweden. The area was part of Norway and later Denmark until the Treaty of Roskilde in 1658. After the treaty the fortress lost its strategic importance and was later used as prison.
