On Thursday 21st March 2024 at 13:19 UTC, Mike DJ9BX a radio amateur from Germany made contact with Zoli HA5MIG/P a radio amateur from Hungary who was operating from Borsodi-Mezoseg TK (HAFF-0014) on the 20m amateur radio band. Zoli made 52 contacts in total while he was in the park.
Borsodi-Mezoseg TK (HAFF-0014), is a protected area of 18,471 hectares of protected land south of Miskolc in eastern Hungary. It was designated as a Protected Landscape Area in 1989 and is an IUCN Management Category V area.
An IUCN Management Category V area is a lived-in working landscape, where the interaction of people with the natural landscape has resulted in a landscape with significant biological, ecological and scenic value.
