Boyd Lake State Park is administered by the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Service. It is located In the north of the state on the western edge of the plains and at the foot of Long’s Peak northeast of the City of Loveland.

In add to water sports and camping the park has a variety of wildlife attractions and is particularly note for its bird populations.

The Lake is known to have over 200 species of migratory and resident birds which include great blue herons, egrets, great-horned owls, hawks, eagles, white pelicans.

Other animals found around the lake include coyote, raccoon, muskrat cottontail rabbit, red fox, and ground squirrels. In the lake are rainbow trout, walleye, largemouth and white bass, yellow perch, crappie, channel catfish and carp.

The parks flora includes cottonwood trees, blue gramma and western wheatgrass. On the fringes of the Lake are diverse wetland areas.
