This is the largest and most well-preserved of the 100s of brañas in NW Spain. A braña is a seasonal settlement typical of Asturias and northern León, typically inhabited by nomadic cattle-herders. This braña is a braña equinoccial, inhabited in the spring and fall months. The brañas are nestled in the Cantabrian Mountains, which gives Braña de la Pornacal an incredible mountain view and a colder climate than most other parts of Spain.
