Bundesbank Bunker Cochem

Bundesbank Bunker Cochem

Cochem, Germany (DE)
In 1962, beneath the sleepy village of Cochem, work began on a massive underground bunker hidden behind 2 houses. Locals assumed it was just another nuclear fallout shelter.

The bunker was actually constructed by the German Bundesbank. Though the shelter was capable of protecting its staff against nuclear attack, its primary objective was to protect the bank’s cash reserves.
