Cadillac Escalade GMT 400

Cadillac Escalade GMT 400

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (PA), US
The first Cadillac Escalade was essentially a badge-engineered GMC Yukon Denali as the design was rushed due to fear of the Lincoln Navigator's dominance in the luxury SUV segment and began production in August 1998 for the 1999 model year. Even the engine was underpowered at 255 hp compared to the Navigator's 300. However, it was the first SUV to offer a Bose surround sound system. 2001 brought a shift to the GMT820 chassis for the 2002 model year after the first generation ceased production in 2000.
