Castro, Brazil (BR)
An authentic mill, the “De Immigrant”, or Immigration Memorial, was inaugurated in 2001 on the occasion of the festivities of the 50th anniversary of the colony as a tribute to the Dutch immigrants. Architect Jan Heijdra, a specialist in windmills, was responsible for building the 37-meter-high monument with a wooden structure without the use of nails.
