The Cedar Key Light is located on Seahorse Key across from the Cedar Key harbor. The lighthouse was erected in 1801 and is the oldest standing lighthouse on the west coast of Florida. The light was taken out of commission in 1905 and today the University of Florida uses the lighthouse and the surrounding island as a marine laboratory.
