This church is located in the south of the small village of Rubiães in northern Portugal. The church and the village are on the Caminho de Santiago the medieval pilgrimage route to Santiago de Campostela.

Architecturally the chapel is a simple single storey rectangular structure. The front elevation facing the main road has a wooden double door flanked on either side by two rectangular windows with stone frames. Above the entrance is a triangular pediment without ornamentation in the tympanum. Above the corner stone columns are ball finials whilst above the entrance is an empty bell gable surmounted by a simple cross.

São Pedro (Saint Roch or Saint Rocco) is thought to have been born in the mid-14th century in the City of Montpelier in the south of France. He is believed to have to been born with a red cross birth which is the reason for his name.
