Derek Carr was born in 1991 in Fresno, California and lived in Bakersfield until 2002. He was recruited by several college football programs and ultimately chose to play at his older brother’s alma mater, Fresno State. He became the starting quarterback at Fresno State as a redshirt sophomore and finished his senior season 8th in Heisman trophy voting. He was selected 36th overall in the 2014 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders. He has played his entire career for the Raiders organization, which relocated to Las Vegas before the 2020 season.

Derek Carr was selected to three consecutive Pro Bowls from 2015-2017. He played in his first career playoff game after the 2021 season, accumulating 310 passing yards in a loss to the eventual AFC champion Cincinnati Bengals.
