Dwayne Johnson was born in Hayward, California to a Samoan mother and a Black father, professional wrestler Rocky Johnson. Johnson moved frequently as a child, living in New Zealand, North Carolina, Connecticut, Hawaii, Tennessee, and Pennsylvania. Though he was a gifted athlete, he often got into trouble and was arrested multiple times before the age of 17. He attended the University of Miami on a full football scholarship and briefly played in the Canadian Football League before his football career fizzled.
