Former McDonald's Restaurant in Reykjavik

Reykjavík, Iceland (IS)
From 1993 to October 31. 2009 this was the only McDonald's in Iceland. It had to close because it was too expensive to transport the ingredients for their food to Iceland from Europe so their food and beverage was also expensive to sell.

On the last day just before closing down the last hamburger with fries was sold and the guy who bought it has kept it ever since. Itøs now on display at Snotra House Hostel South East of Selfoss, Iceland.
Today it houses the Metro burger restaurant using local in ingredients. It opened shortly after McDonald's closed.
