The Fritz-Walter-Stadion is the home to the Bundesliga club 1. FC Kaiserslautern, and is located in the city of Kaiserslautern. It was also one of the stadiums to be used in the 2006 World Cup. Named after Fritz Walter the captain of the Germany national football team that won the 1954 FIFA World Cup or the "Legend of Bern", who also played for the club throughout his career. The Stadium was built on the Betzenberg Hill, hence its nickname "Betze", and was opened in 1920.
