On Sunday 24th March 2024 at 10:04 UTC, Ed DK1WI, a radio amateur from Germany made contact with Jaan SM0OEK/P, a radio amateur from Sweden who was operating from Gärdesudden (SMFF-3655) on the 40m amateur radio band. Jaan made a total of 95 contacts while he was in the reserve.
Gärdesudden (SMFF-3655), is a protected area of 22 hectares located to the east of Stockholm in Sweden.. It was designated as a Nature Reserve in 2009 and is an IUCN Management Category 1a area.
An IUCN Management Category 1a area is an area which is strictly protected to protect biodiversity (and also possibly geomorphological and/or geological features). Human recreational and other use is strictly limited and controlled to guarantee the protection of the areas conservation values.
