The Guadalcanal American Memorial was dedicated in August 7, 1992 to all the Americans who lost their life during the Guadalcanal Campaign. Over 7,000 American soldiers died and almost 8,000 were wounded. The Guadalcanal Campaign was significant as it halted the Japanese expansion in the Pacific.
