Located in Houston, Texas lies a small burial ground. These graves are among modern roads, parking spaces and buildings. The graves belong to a family known as HIllendahl. They originated from Germany when Heinrich Hillendahl came to America in the late 1850s. Heinrich bought 80 acres of land and started a family run farm. Heinrich ended up becoming a successful farmer and expanded his plot from 80 to 130 acres. Among the 130 acres, a small family burial ground was established. Over the years, the Hillendahl family sold more and more land due to high city taxes in the 1970s. However, the burial ground, which was fenced off, had stayed in their hands and avoided being demolished with the rest of the farm.
Today the graves are still in their original spot and still owned by the Hillendahl family.
