Erected in the 11th century by the Count of Urach and expanded in the 16th century by the Dukes of Württemberg into a regional fortress, the castle has towered as a picturesque ruin over the old town since 1765. From here one has a wonderful view of the Erms Valley with its fruit orchards and vineyards.
