Perhaps this is why the bow is being replaced:

June 22, 2006: The two ferries collided today in thick fog off Olbia, Sardinia. It was reported that the 37,536 gt Tirrenia ferry NURAGHES struck the port side of Moby Lines' 9,120 gt MOBY FANTASY. The 1976-built MOBY FANTASY was departing Olbia, while the 2004-built NURAGHES was heading for the same port. It is reported that all passengers have been transferred. Those travelling to Olbia were taken on board MOBY AKI, while those on NURAGHES were picked up by a SNAV ferry. Both ferries involved in the crash are damaged and will have to be replaced on their itineraries by other ships. MOBY FANTASY is reportedly taking on water and is been towed to Golfo Aranci.
