January 14. 1972 King Frederik IX died after 14 days of illness. Next day his daughte Crown Princess Margrethe was proclaimed Queen Margrethe II of Denmark by Prime Minister Jens Otto Krag from the balcony of Christiansborg Palace.
He said the following 3 times in 3 directions: "King Frederik IX is dead, long live Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II" followed by a 9 time hurra.
