Jesup-Blair Local Park, located on 14.46 acres, serves as a green gateway into Silver Spring at the Washington, DC line. It is the environmental setting for the historic Jesup Blair House, which was built circa 1850. Jesup Blair house, originally known as “The Moorings,? was constructed as a summer residence for the Blair family. Violet Blair Janin willed the property to the people of Maryland in 1933 for use as a public park. Due to the historic setting and the many mature trees, notably majestic oaks, members of the community have had a keen interest in this park.
