On Saturday 13th January 2024 Colm EI9KY/P, a radio amateur from Waterford, Ireland reached the summit of Knockboy and activated this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.

He made 36 contacts in total working on the 40m, 20m and 10m amateur radio bands.

The summit of Knockboy is 706 metres (2316 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database. It is the highest point in county Cork.
