Książ Castle dates back to 1288 with construction started by The Silesian duke Bolko I the Strict. During World War II the castle was taken by Nazis in 1944 and a vast underground complex was started before taken by the Soviets in 1945. The tunnels are still used today by the Polish Academy of Sciences and can be toured as well.
