This majestic oak sits on the property known as Lichgate which was owned by the late Laura Jespen. Ms. Jespen was a professor at Florida State University and decided to build an English Tudor Cottage on the property adjacent to the huge oak.

On March 31,2006 Lichgate was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.
