On Monday 15th May 2023 the UK’s first full-size autonomous buses started carrying passengers on a route between the Ferrytoll park & ride site and Edinburgh Park business and retail development and the railway station.
The buses are part of a joint venture project between Fusion Processing, Stagecoach, Transport Scotland, Alexander Dennis, Edinburgh Napier University and Bristol Robotics Laboratory. The project is co-funded by the UK Government’s Centre for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles.
On launch day the service was being operated by 5 modified Alexander Dennis Euro VI Enviro 200’s (single deck low floor integrals).
