A local resident who reported the fire commented that the sign had been flickering since June.

No one was reported at injured in the fire which did not damage the restaurant building.

The New Zealand Herald and Radio New Zealand both reported on a fire at the McDonald's restaurant on Whangaparāoa Rd north of Auckland on Sunday 26 November 2023.

The fire which was first noticed at 23:30 was seated on the Golden Arches sign in front of the restaurant.

A local resident who reported the fire commented that the sign had been flickering since June.

No one was reported at injured in the fire which did not damage the restaurant building.
