Parts of the present church date from 1430 when it was dedicated to Saint Luke, although much of the building dates from c.1700 when brick replaced the earlier plaster and timber walls. The west gallery was added later and was a gift to the church by Thomas Hall. There have been series of restorations and renovations from 1839 up to 1950.
