On Saturday 20th August 2022, Peter VE6FPV a radio amateur from Calgary. AB reached the summit of Mount Edith Cavell and became the first to activate this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.

They made 4 contacts in total working on the 20 metre HF amateur radio band.

The summit of Mount Edith Cavell is 3363 metres (11033 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database.

The Street View photograph for this map shows the Angel Glacier and Cavell Pond. The mint colour of Cavell Pond with its abundance of ice floes gets it mint colour from the large amount of glacial slit in the water. The Angel Glacier derives its name from its angel wing shape as it spills over a 300m cliff on the north face of Mount Edith Cavell.
