On Sunday 30th October 2022, VK3PF and VK3BYD/P, two radio amateurs from Victoria, Australia reached the summit of Mt Sassafras and activated this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.

They made 15 contacts in total working on the 40 metre HF amateur radio band.

The summit of Mt Sassafras is 1588 metres (5210 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database.
