NASA FIRST – JUNE 2022

At 11:59 ACST on Sunday 26th of June 2022 NASA launched a Black Brant IX suborbital sounding rocket from the Amhem Space Centre (ASC) in the Northern Territory of Australia. This was the first time that NASA had successfully launched a rocket from a commercial spaceport outside the US.

The rocket was carrying scientific equipment including the X-ray Quantum Calorimeter, or XQC, experiment sponsored by the University of Wisconsin.

The rocket reached an altitude of 203 miles (327 Km) where it deployed its payload and then parachuted back to earth landing southwest of the launch site.

This was first of 3 planned launches form the ASC with next planned for Monday 4th July 2022.
