On Friday 29th March 2024 at 09:39 UTC, Fri DL4FDM, a radio amateur from Germany, made contact with Dietmar DL2HWI/P, a radio amateur from Germany, who was operating from the Nature Park Fichtelgebirge (DLFF-0058), on the 40m amateur radio band. Dietmar made a total of 28 contacts while at the reserve.
Nature Park Fichtelgebirge (DLFF-0058), is a protected area of 62,746 hectares located in south-east Germany in the state of Saxony and close to the border with the Czech Republic and the state of Bavaria. It was designated in 1990 as a Landscape Protection Area and is an IUCN Management Category V area.
An IUCN Management Category V area is a lived-in working landscape, where the interaction of people with the natural landscape has resulted in a landscape with significant biological, ecological and scenic value.
