New Gravel Pit Chapel Burial Ground

New Gravel Pit Chapel Burial Ground

London, United Kingdom (GB)
The cemetery was established in 1715 and got its name from the nearby gravel pit. In 1809 the congregation moved to the New Gravel Pit Chapel nearby. The chapel was rebuilt in a Gothic style in 1857 and was demolished in 1970 to make room for new apartment blocks. The cemetery still remains today. It sits hidden among tall apartment buildings in an overgrown state. The cemetery is not accessible to the public but one can see the overgrown graves by looking through the fence.
