On Saturday 30th March 2024 at 09:11 UTC, Janos HA8TI, a radio amateur from Hungary, made contact with Mira OK2MG/P, a radio amateur from the Czech Republic, who was operating from NPP U Noveho mlyna (OKFF-0298), on the 40m amateur radio band.
NPP U Noveho mlyna (OKFF-0298), is a protected area of 12 hectares lying to the south-west of Prague in the west of the Czech Republic. It was designated in 1982 as a National Nature Monument and is an IUCN Management Category III area.
An IUCN Management Category III area is set aside to protect a specific natural monument. Examples of natural monuments include a landform, sea mount, submarine cavern, geological feature e.g. a cave or a living feature e.g. an ancient grove. These areas are often quite small but have a high visitor value.
