Osceola (1804 –1/30/1838) aka Billy Powell at birth was an influential leader for the Seminole people of Florida. He was an advisor to Micanopy the Seminoles principal chief and led a group of warriors during the Second Seminole War when the United States tried to remove the Seminoles from their land. He was captured by trickery under a flag of truce on October 21, 1837 and imprisoned first in St. Augustine and later Fort Moultrie were he died.

Osceola is a mascot of the Florida State Seminole Football Team with the approval of the Seminole Tribe of Florida.
