Padma Multi-purpose Bridge Opens – June 2022

On Saturday 25th June 2022 the New Indian Express reported that the Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had opened the Padma multipurpose road-rail bridge.

The bridge which cost USD 3.6 million was fully funded by the Bangladesh government.

The new bridge at 6.15 km (3.82 miles) is the longest in the country and carries both rail and road traffic over the Padma River. It connects the southwestern part of the country with the capital and other regions.
