Parque Bacacheri is a public place in the city of Curitiba, capital of the state of Paraná. With 152 thousand m2, the park is the main reference of the neighborhood (of the same name) which is considered one of the oldest in the city and which was once a colony of French people (originally from Algeria) with the name of Colônia Algerina.
Until the mid-20th century, the place was called Tanque do Bacacheri, as a small lake was formed there in the middle of the Bacacheri River. With some renovations and the implementation of improvements, the city hall opened, in 1988, the Parque General Iberê de Mattos, which years later gained a reference name that is better known than the official name: Parque Bacacheri.
With a recreation and leisure infrastructure for local residents and tourists, the park offers everything from a walking track to volleyball and beach soccer courts, as well as snack bars, a water fountain, a lake, barbecue areas and a playground.
