On Friday 15th March 2024 at 14:45 UTC, Lacy YO6CFB radio amateur from Romania made contact with ZZ2FF an amateur radio club from Brazil who were operating from the Parque Estadual de ILHABELA - SP (PYFF-0451) on the 100m amateur radio band.
Parque Estadual de ILHABELA - SP (PYFF-0451) is a protected area of 27,025 hectares which protects the Atlantic Forest on an archipelago off the northeast coast of the São Paulo state, Brazil nearly all of the mountainous island of São Sebastião.
The forest is home to hundreds of species of birds. reptiles andmammals, many of which are endangered. Mammals include Brazilian squirrels (Sciurus aestuans) ocelots (Leopardus pardalis) and capuchin monkeys, while bird species include pionus parrots, toucans, and black hawk-eagles (Spizaetus tyrannus).
