Patrick Daniel Tillman (11/6/1976 – 4/22/2004) was a football player with the Arizona Cardinals who left his lucrative career to join the United States Army. Tillman joined the Army Rangers in 2002, graduating in 2003 having served a tour in Iraq before his death in Afghanistan in 2004. Initially the Army reported Tillman had been killed by enemy fire, but weeks later it was discovered the Army knew he had been killed by friendly fire and failed to divulge the information.

There are many tributes to Tillman including this statue outside of the Cardinals' stadium.
