On Thursday 30th June 2022 a landslide in the northern Peruvian district of Chavin de Huántar destroyed 150 homes.
Early reports did not speak of any deaths or injuries but the authorities in the area are searching for a number of people who are either known or believed to be missing.
The landslip has blocked roads and hampered efforts to reach the scene and assist those who have lost their homes and those who may have sustained injuries.
The Chavín de Huántar District is one of the 16 districts in Huari Province.
