On Sunday 21st August 2022, Doug PY1II a radio amateur from Brazil reached the summit of Pico dos Vândalos and activated this summit on the radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.

He made 19 contacts in total working on the 40 and 15 metre HF amateur radio bands.
