On Monday 1st April 2024 at 07:49 UTC, Zdenko 9A4FM, a radio amateur from Croatia, made contact with Robert OK2PYA/P, a radio amateur from the Czech Republic, who was operating from PR Na Bítovské cestě (OKFF-1170), on the 40m amateur radio band.
PR Na Bítovské cestě (OKFF-1170), is a Protected Area covering 30.0602 hectares lying to the south-west of Brno in the south of the Czech Republic close to the border with Austria. It was designated as a Nature Reserve in 2014 and is an IUCN Category III Management area.
An IUCN Management Category III area is set aside to protect a specific natural monument. Examples of natural monuments include a landform, sea mount, submarine cavern, geological feature e.g. a cave or a living feature e.g. an ancient grove. These areas are often quite small but have a high visitor value.
