On Thursday 4th April 2024 at 06:48 UTC, Lutz DL8MLD, a radio amateur from Germany, made contact with Mila OK1DOC/P, a radio amateur from the Czech Republic, who was operating from PR Prokopské údolí (OKFF-0857), on the 40m amateur radio band. Mila made a total of 70 contacts while at the reserve.
PR Prokopské údolí (OKFF-0857)[Prokop valley], is a protected area of 170.9266 hectares, which lies in the southern suburbs of Prague in the Czech Republic. It was designated as a Nature Reserve in 1979 and is an IUCN Management Category III area.
An IUCN Management Category III area is set aside to protect a specific natural monument. Examples of natural monuments include a landform, sea mount, submarine cavern, geological feature e.g. a cave or a living feature e.g. an ancient grove. These areas are often quite small but have a high visitor value.
