Don Rolando Reyes Sr., the well known Cuban cigar maker and blender formed Puros Indios in 1995 and it was taken over by his son in 1996. After in-family squabbling with the eldest sister the company ceased to make cigars until a resolution in 1999.

In 2007 Puros Indios was renamed to Reyes Family Cigars which is run by Reyes Sr., grandson, Carlos Diez.
