Class 252 locomotives were fitted with two bogies each with four axles. This wheel configuration known as ‘Bo-Bo’ allowed the locomotive to maintain higher speeds when concerning and produced greater adhesion as all the wheel on both axles were powered.

75 Class 252’s were manufactured between 1991 and 1997. They were built by Siemens, CAF, Meinfesa and Kraus-Maffei.
